ABC -Why Cloth?
Why Cloth Nappies? · A baby will need up to 6000 nappy changes for the first two and half years. At 50c per nappy, that is $3000 thrown into landfill, excluding the refuse cost. · Around a million nappies are landfilled every day in New Zealand. (Based on 145,000 children under two and half in NZ using 6-7 disposables per day).
AND Cloth will save you $$$$ · Real nappies cost less than half that of disposables and there are further savings if you reuse them on your second or third child. Most parents save $500- $1000 in the first year of baby's life. Scaled up over the nappy wearing life of two children and you can save over $5000! · In addition, research points to toddlers potty-training approximately 6 months earlier if brought up in cloth nappies – the "wees = wet nappies" connection occurs with cloth much better than with "disposables"! · And the most important financial reason: Cloth nappies don't cost the earth☺ Extract from: www.zerowaste.co.nz – Zero Waste NZ Trust / Nappies You Owe it to Yourself
